Ozone in the henhouse

A very important stage that has a key impact on the success of animal husbandry is the disinfection of the facility and equipment. Ozone is used as a supplement or replacement in many cases of chemical disinfection. Ozone disinfection can be used before and after mulching.

Why ozone after mulching?

After making up the livestock surface, ozonation is carried out, which perfectly removes residues from previously used disinfectants, perfectly disinfects, eliminates bacteria, viruses, fungi and mites, leaving the object not only sterile, but also friendly, e.g. for young birds. At low ozone concentration of 0.3 ppm and relative humidity of 60-75%, there is a clear reduction of microorganisms after 2-3 hours of exposure (Table 1). At a higher concentration above 1 ppm, this reduction occurs after 60 minutes. (ozone disinfection power depends on gas concentration).

There are several methods for ensuring adequate hygiene in livestock buildings, but ozonization is the most effective, most durable and safe method for animals that will use these rooms.

Safety during ozone treatment.

Ozone in high concentrations is a poisonous gas, dangerous to humans. To avoid poisoning, use ozone detectors and special gas masks, and protect the treatment site against unauthorized access. That is why it is important that the treatments were performed by a professional company.
